Definition of Terms
Depression- is a mood disorder that involves a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It is different from the mood fluctuations that people regularly experience as a part of life.

Mild Depression- involves more than just feeling blue temporarily. Your symptoms can go on for days and are noticeable enough to interfere with your usual activities. With PHQ-4 score of 3-5.

Minor Depression- symptoms or functional impairment are between ‘mild’ and ‘severe’. With PHQ-4 score of 6-8.

Severe/Major Depression- most symptoms, and the symptoms markedly interfere with functioning; can occur with or without psychotic symptoms. PHQ-4 score of 9-12.

Anxiety- is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts and physical changes like increased blood pressure. People with anxiety disorders usually have recurring intrusive thoughts or concerns.

Circadian rhythm- 24-hour cycles that are part of the body's internal clock, running in the background to carry out essential functions.

PHQ-4- Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4) was developed and validated by Kroenke, Spitzer, Williams, & Löwe, (2009) in order to address the fact that anxiety and depression are two of the most prevalent illnesses among the general population.
The PHQ-4 is a four questionnaire answered on a four point Likert-type scale. Its purpose is to allow for ultra brief and accurate measurement of core symptoms/signs of depression and anxiety by combining the two-item measure (PHQ–2), consisting of core criteria for depression, as well as a two-item measure for anxiety (GAD–2), both of which have independently been shown to be good brief screening tools
